There are two general types of player pianos:

Design Integrated Player Pianos and Retrofit Player Pianos.

Retrofit systems like Pianodisc, and QRS which can be installed into virtually any piano.

The Yamaha Disklavier is a Design Integrated Player system. The player system is part of the original manufacturing process of the piano and is never sold as a component to be added later.
