Just in time for the 2010 holidays, Piano Distributors brought Yamaha Pianos to Columbia, Missouri, located at 1729 W. Broadway, Suite 10B in the Broadway Shopping Center. With its opening, Piano Distributors now reaches out to 40 counties throughout Central Missouri, including the state's capitol, Jefferson City, as well as the Lake of the Ozarks region and as far North as the Missouri-Iowa border.

At Piano Distributors, you'll find a large array of both new and pre-owned pianos, verticals and grands, along with Yamaha's latest technology represented in their Clavinova digital and Disklavier player piano areas. With the advancements in Yamaha's technology, you can entertain guests or relax after a hard day's work, with the touch of a finger, while your Disklavier showcases novelties such as “Gershwin playing Gershwin” or select from an assortment of your favorite libraries. If you are a singer as well as a pianist, come in for a demonstration of Clavinova's karaoke tunes and unique harmonies. In keeping with all Piano Distributors' locations, the Columbia store offers teaching studios, a music education lab for group lessons, print music and a beautiful recital hall complete with two Conservatory-series grands. The hall seats 70-80 comfortably and is available to teachers for piano recitals, compliments of Piano Distributors, as well as for guest performances and workshops. Throughout the year, the store hosts a variety of events for the community, educators and technicians. Such events include Yamaha artists, music educators, technical support and local musician performances for education and enjoyment.

Song Chords is Yamaha's solution for aspiring keyboard and guitar players who want  to practice or perform with a backing band, on stage or at home. Shanae's style -  A collection of various styles from the Faber Piano Method books.  Shanae also teaches chords, arpeggios, scales, inversions, and contrary scales.

"I have taught for almost eight years!  I am 23-years-old. I started taking piano lessons at age four, but began to really enjoy and love it at age nine or ten.  I took lessons from my father, who has a masters degree in Piano Performance.  I come from a very musical family.  In the past we've given litle family concerts.  We try to have recitals as often as we can for students, and for five years now, I've had students participate in the Music Festival each March for the Federation of Music Clubs!"

Shelby Butterworth started playing the piano at the age of four.  She participated in the National Federation of Music Clubs and acquired three trophies.  As a teenager, she went to a National Fine Arts competition and won 5th place playing a piano duet with her sister.  Shelby is now accepting beginning students.

Over this time, I have played in various venues such as the Missouri Theater, and placed in top spots several times at MMTA (Missouri Music Teachers Association) and MTNA (Missouri Teachers National Association) competitions."

Gabriel has played for 20 years and taught for two years.

"I teach under the name 'Notes for Life'.  I truly believe that we all need music and that there are people out there who have something stopping them from receiving music education, whether it's a financial, physical, or mental disability.  Notes for Life has a goal to remove those blocks and allow people to get the healing and personal value that music gives.  I teach mostly Jazz, Pop, R&B, and Funk.  I also teach composition, and teach students to 'play by ear'.  Join me on a mission for a healthy heart and soul."

Meet our Teachers!  Introducing NELLIE SCHRANTZ - Violin/Viola

Nellie's style -  Suzuki Violin/Viola, Irish and American Fiddling

She has taught for 12 years.

Nellie began violin lessons at the age of six at the Community Music School Suzuki Program at Michigan State University, and studied with Dr. Sue Garber until graduation from high school. At the age of eight, Nellie began studying Irish fiddle and dance.  By the age of 15, Nellie was a Championship Level Irish dancer and fiddler, having competed in numerous events throughout Canada and the Midwest.  Nellie has a BA in Violin/Bluegrass Performance, and studied with Dr. Andrew Carlson.  In 2010, she graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Masters in Music and Human Learning.  She is a Registered Suzuki Teacher, and currently is the Director of Orchestras at Smithton Middle School.  Nellie also maintains a private studio in Columbia, Mo.
